GEORGE BANKS
AUTHOR OF GOURMET & GLAMOUR IN THE SKY: A LIFE IN AIRLINE CATERING & AIRLINE CATERING PROFESSIONAL

A life long airline catering professional having worked in the Indusrty from 1971 till 2015, for four major airlines. Gulf Aviation based Bahrain 1971-1972,as a Trainee Assistant Catering Manager, British Caledonian [BCAL] from 1973 to 1988, as Regional Catering Representative/later Manager for UK Europe, Africa, USA , Middle and Far East. In 1985 his role changed to Manager Menu Planning and Product Development system wide. British Caledonian was taken over by British Airways in 1988, and George was employed as Manager Food Product standards, Food Development Manager, and Menu and Service style development Manager by British Airways from 1988 to 2006. He then joined Emirates Airlines in January 2007 as Regional Catering Manager Africa and South America, and later covered the position of Concept Development Manager for Emirates premium lounges. He retired in July 2015 and wote and published the book "Gourmet and Glamour in the Sky....A life in Airline catering". He was also a Mercury Award winner for BCAL and BA, and has written for several Industry Magazines.
