La Cuisine

Organised by the Emirates Culinary Guild, in collaboration with the World Association of Chefs' Societies, La Cuisine at SIAL is a favourite meeting point for foodservice professionals.

La Cuisine at SIAL invites all professional chefs to participate in the upcoming competition organised by the Abu Dhabi chapter of the Emirates Culinary Guild. SIAL Middle East will be held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from 10 - 12 December 2018.

Entry to participate in any aspect of La Cuisine at SIAL is open to any professional chef, cook, baker or pastry chef. There are no restrictions regarding age, position or workplace.

The largest culinary competition in the region and a favourite meeting point for food service professionals. The event will host over 1000 chef competitors this year from all over the region competing across 19 different categories. Amongst other features at La Cuisine.



SIAL Middle East hosts more than 150 senior chefs from the region and select exhibitors to network in an informal setting. Introduced in 2015, the chefs enjoy their evening at Shangri-La, Abu Dhabi. 



Senior chefs from La Cuisine participate in daily multiple guided tours around the show to meet with exhibitors and taste and discover new and innovative products. In 2017, more than 800 introductions/meetings were made with exhibitors at the event over 3 days. 



New in 2017 and in line with our Culinary Partner, Emirates Culinary Guild's constitution to ensure the enhancement of Emirati Cuisine. This new competition which took place at the La Cuisine VIP Restaurant, showcased Arabian Hospitality and cuisine of the United Arab Emirates. Jordanian Celebrity Chef and 'Queen of the Arabian Kitchen' Manal Alalem, was one of the VIP guests at the buffet.

THE EMIRATES CULINARY GUILD                                                                                                                                                     

The Emirates Culinary Guild (ECG) is the UAE’s association of professional chefs. It is a non-profit organisation dedicated solely to the advancement of culinary arts in the UAE.

The World Association of Chefs' Societies (WACS) is a 52-nation fellowship, comprising the world’s various professional chefs’ organisations.

The ECG received its charter into WACS at a ceremony in Stavanger, Norway on 28 June 1994, during the WACS 26th World Congress. WACS endorses the ECG as the authorised UAE culinary institute. The ECG, thereby, has an international culinary focus and multi-national support for the staging of its various competitions, seminars and events.

The World Association of Chefs' Societies, or WACS for short, is a global network of chefs' associations first founded in October 1928 at the Sorbonne in Paris. At that first congress, there were 65 delegates from 17 countries, representing 36 national and international associations. The venerable August Escoffier was named the first Honourary President of WACS.

Today, this global body has 93 official chefs' associations as members, which represent over 10 million professional chefs world wide. The biennel congress is a hallmark tradition of WACS and has been organised in over 20 cities across the world throughout its illustrious 82-year history.

WACS is managed by an elected presidential body, consisting of the WACS President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary General and Ambassador Honourary President, as well as a board of continenal directors that looks after the regions of Asia, Europe, Africa, the Pacific and the Americas. Our programmes and different activities are managed by three separate committees – the Culinary Competitions Committee, the Education Committee and the Marketing and Communication Committee – as well as several sub-committees.
