
There are just over 1,300 food retail stores in Abu Dhabi generating an annual turnover of US$272 million. Any store failing to comply with the new rules will not have their licenses renewed beyond December 31st 2012.
The regulations include standards relating to branding, layout specifications, safer preservation of food products, shelving, uniforms, labelling and security.
In association with ADFCA, SIAL Middle East will build a replica of a new ‘Baqala’ store and provide space and commercial opportunities for a select number of potential suppliers to display solutions.

ADFCA inspectors will be personally inviting store owners and managers to attend SIAL Middle East 2012 to experience a one-stop-shop for everything they need to modernise their store and adhere to the new guidelines.
