Grocery at SIAL Middle East

2012 is an important year for grocery store owners in Abu Dhabi.

By the end of this year, every store across the Emirate will need to adhere to new regulations set out by the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority, designed to modernise retail outlets and make them more competitive.

SIAL Middle East will be the final opportunity for store owners to find suppliers who can update their store as per the new rules.



The Grocery @ SIAL Middle EastThere are just over 1,300 food retail stores in Abu Dhabi generating an annual turnover of US$272 million. Any store failing to comply with the new rules will not have their licenses renewed beyond December 31st 2012.

The regulations include standards relating to branding, layout specifications, safer preservation of food products, shelving, uniforms, labelling and security.

In association with ADFCA, SIAL Middle East will build a replica of a new ‘Baqala’ store and provide space and commercial opportunities for a select number of potential suppliers to display solutions.

  • Specialized contractors
ADFCA inspectors will be personally inviting store owners and managers to attend SIAL Middle East 2012 to experience a one-stop-shop for everything they need to modernise their store and adhere to the new guidelines.

Stand packages

Space only stand: Your company is free to design and construct its own stand.
Price: US$377 per sqm (minimum of 24 sqm required)

Shell scheme stand: Your stand will include modular walls, name board, carpet, lighting, power socket, electricity (13 amp) and basic stand cleaning.
Price: US$436 per sqm (minimum of 9 sqm required)

Upgraded shell scheme package:
A shell scheme stand with additional furniture package to include table, chairs, shelves, counter.
Price: US$463 per sqm (minimum of 9 sqm required)
